Must-Visit Places in Wyoming
August 10, 2022Here are five must-visit places in Wyoming, perfect for J1 interns and trainees!
Before that, let’s get to know Wyoming first.
Wyoming is home to seven national parks and is known for its cold snow and hot geysers. These two contrasting extremes make Wyoming a great place for everyone to visit!
The mountain area is best for winter activities due to the cold and snowy weather, while geysers and hot springs are great for those who prefer warmer locations and temperatures.
Residents and locals recommend that tourists should visit:
Yellowstone National Park
Undeniably one of the most well-known locations in America, the Yellowstone National Park is the world’s first national park which opened its doors to visitors in 1872.Â
In this national park alone, you’ll be able to find geysers, waterfalls, basins, calderas, and lakes. Along with these land and water forms are wildlife plants and animals, such as bison, gray wolves, lodgepole pines, and white spruces.
These unique characteristics of the national park gave more activities for visitors to do, offering camping, touring, fly fishing, and hiking services.
Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area
Flaming Gorge is also a great place for outdoor recreational activities. This location is well-known for its trophy lake trout that fishing enthusiasts find exciting and fun to catch.
For those who aren’t fond of fishing, don’t worry! Flaming Gorge offers more than its fishing lakes. Visitors can choose to hike on their hiking trails, camp in lodges, or ride water rafts on their rapid rivers.
Buffalo Bill Center of the West
Not a fan of outdoor activities? Then you can visit Buffalo Bill Center of the West, home to five different museums and a research library filled with historical artifacts that tell the story of Wyoming.Â
The center was originally built to pay tribute to the life and works of William F. “Buffalo Bill†Cody and the early pioneers of the American West. Buffalo Bill became a famous personality when he discovered his passion for buffalo hunting. His hunting skills caught the attention of many locals and hunters surrounding the area.
Visitors can partake in live raptor experiences, Chuckwagon dinners, and exclusive museum tours.Â
National Historic Trails Interpretive Center
The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center commemorates the rich history of Native Americans, early explorers, and the travel corridor of the Oregon, Mormon, California, and Pony Express trails.Â
The center utilizes interactive and hands-on exhibits that fully immerse visitors in the stories and walkthroughs of the past.
Some ongoing exhibitions include “Take a Wagon Ride,†“Push a Hand Cart,†and “Crossing the North Platte River.â€
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort
A trip to Wyoming is never complete without visiting the snowcaps of tall mountains in the area.
Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is most-visited for its ski mountains and facilities. It was already able to host three world cup ski races from the 1960s to 1970s.
Skiing activities are best enjoyed with friends and family.
